Special Training for ‘Van Mitras’ in Himachal from May 1 to 5: Focus on Forest Fire Management and Afforestation
CM releasing training manual for 'Van Mitras'
Shimla, April 29:
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today released a training manual for newly appointed Van Mitras at Oak Over, Shimla. The manual will serve as a key resource to train Van Mitras in areas such as forest fire management, departmental procedures, nursery operations, afforestation programs, and overall forest management. The training sessions will be conducted across various forest ranges in the state from May 1 to May 5.
All Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) have been designated as nodal officers to oversee and coordinate the training programs in their respective divisions.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for high-quality and practical training to ensure Van Mitras are well-versed in departmental functioning and can fulfill their duties effectively. He also directed that the training manual be promptly distributed to training centers and instructors and made available on the department’s official website.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening the Forest Department, the Chief Minister announced that he would personally interact with the newly appointed Van Mitras after May 15. He reiterated the state’s focus on recruiting personnel and adopting modern technologies to enhance forest conservation efforts.
Given the approaching summer season, he also called for heightened vigilance against forest fires and proactive measures to protect forest resources.
So far, 1,896 Van Mitras have taken charge across the state under this recruitment initiative. MLA Sanjay Awasthi, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Samir Rastogi, and other senior forest officials were present on the occasion.
