Prasar Bharati Launches OTT Platform ‘WAVES’ in Shimla, Offers Stage for Emerging Content Creators

Shimla, April 25: In a significant step towards digital modernization, public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has launched its official OTT platform WAVES, giving users access to everything from live TV to on-demand videos—all in one place. Available on both Android and iOS, the platform is tailored to meet the evolving content consumption habits of modern audiences.

At a joint press conference hosted by All India Radio and Doordarshan in Shimla, Cluster Head and Deputy Director Kashmir Singh shared details about the platform. WAVES offers a range of features including on-demand videos, free-to-play games, 65 live channels, live TV and radio streaming, TV shows, movies, documentaries in 12 languages, e-books, and even online shopping.

One of the standout features of WAVES is its ‘Creator Corner’, which provides a dedicated space for new and emerging content creators to upload and showcase their work to a wider audience.

Designed as a family-friendly hub for entertainment, education, and shopping, WAVES aims to serve as a one-stop destination for viewers of all age groups. Singh emphasized that the platform not only supports clean, culturally rich content but also aims to empower young talent while highlighting India’s diverse cultural heritage.
