Himachal Cadre IAS Anuradha Thakur Appointed OSD in Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance
To take over as Secretary after Ajay Seth’s retirement on June 30
Shimla, April 18: Senior IAS officer Anuradha Thakur, belonging to the 1994 Himachal cadre, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi. The appointment has been made in the rank and pay scale of Secretary, as per a notification issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Thakur will succeed Ajay Seth, the present Secretary of Economic Affairs, after his retirement on June 30. Her appointment as OSD has been made in advance to ensure a smooth transition into the crucial role.
Extended Central Deputation Till 2026
The ACC had recently approved an extension of Anuradha Thakur’s central deputation. Her tenure in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has now been extended up to March 24, 2026, or until further notice. This ensures continued service at the central level in key economic ministries.
A Distinguished Administrative Career
Anuradha Thakur, a prominent 1994 batch officer, was promoted by the Himachal Pradesh government last year to the post of Additional Chief Secretary, though she continues to be on central deputation. Her administrative career spans across various important roles, both in Himachal Pradesh and at the national level.
With her new assignment in the Ministry of Finance, Thakur is poised to play a key role in shaping economic policy, especially during a time of evolving fiscal strategies and reforms.
