Shimla, April 18: The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued a weather alert for heavy rain and hailstorm in several districts of the state. The warning is valid from the night of April 18 till midnight of April 19, with residents being advised to take necessary precautions.

According to an SDMA spokesperson, Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall starting Thursday night. On April 19, similar conditions may impact parts of Mandi district as well.

Hailstorm Predicted in Multiple Districts

Alongside rain, the forecast includes hailstorm activity in various parts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Shimla districts. The weather department has urged locals, especially farmers, to take preventive measures to protect crops and livestock.

Public Advisory Issued

The administration has asked people to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during the alert period.

  • Stay indoors during thunderstorm or hailstorm activity.

  • Monitor official weather updates through IMD and SDMA portals.

The sudden change in weather is expected due to western disturbances affecting the mid-hill regions, and more updates will be issued based on further developments.

 Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay connected to local advisories for real-time updates.
