Hamirpur’s braveheart Subedar Kuldeep Chand given emotional farewell as village unites in grief and pride
Hamirpur, April 13:
An emotional wave swept through Kohlwin village in Tehsil Galore, Hamirpur, as Subedar Kuldeep Chand, who was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with full military and state honours on Sunday. His son performed the last rites, marking a solemn moment of pride and sorrow for the entire community.
The atmosphere turned heavy with emotion as the martyr’s mortal remains arrived in an army convoy early Sunday morning. Family members wept inconsolably, while villagers raised passionate slogans like “Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega, Kuldeep Tera Naam Rahega” and “Kuldeep Chand Amar Rahe.”
A Hero’s Farewell
Hundreds joined the martyr’s final journey, with youth leading a vehicle rally, waving flags and shouting slogans in honor of their fallen hero. Emotional chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Hindustan Zindabad” echoed through the village roads, transforming the procession into a moving tribute of patriotism and unity.
A contingent of the Indian Army and Himachal Pradesh Police paid their final respects by performing the customary gun salute and ceremonial reverse arms. The atmosphere at Mokshadham cremation ground was charged with a mixture of grief, pride, and unwavering national spirit.
Dignitaries and Officials Pay Homage
Top administrative and military officials were present to pay their respects. Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh, SP Bhagat Singh Thakur, and SDM Rakesh Sharma laid wreaths on behalf of the state, standing in solidarity with the grieving family.
Subedar Kuldeep Chand’s bravery and sacrifice will be etched forever in the hearts of not only his village but the entire nation. His life and valour remain a beacon of inspiration for future generations.
