Wall Collapse at Brick Kiln in Amb Injures Five Workers, Including a Couple
Two seriously injured referred to Una Regional Hospital; investigation underway
Una, April 10 – In a tragic incident at a brick kiln in Bhanjal, under Amb police station limits, five workers were injured on Thursday when a wall collapsed during work. The injured include a couple who have been seriously hurt and referred to the Regional Hospital Una for further treatment.
The accident occurred while workers were unloading raw materials from a tractor-trolley near a wall at the kiln. Suddenly, the wall gave way and collapsed on the laborers. Locals and police personnel quickly responded, pulling the victims out from under the debris and rushing them to nearby hospitals.
According to initial investigations, the poor structural condition of the wall is believed to be the primary cause of the collapse.
The injured have been identified as:
-
Toofani, son of Neelkanth, and his wife Phoolwati, both residents of Pipariya Dr. Shuripurva, Tehsil Maheshpur, District Bahraich (U.P.). They are currently undergoing treatment at Una Regional Hospital.
-
Raju, son of Meva Ram, is receiving treatment at Civil Hospital Amb.
-
Jatinder and a Nepali laborer are being treated at a private hospital in Daulatpur Chowk.
Speaking about the incident, DSP Amb Dr. Vasudha Sood confirmed that a police team promptly reached the site and has launched an investigation. “We are examining all aspects and have begun questioning the brick kiln owner and other workers to determine the exact cause of the collapse,” she stated.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety conditions at local industrial and construction sites, especially where informal labor is heavily involved.
