International Women's Day: Himachal Pradesh to distribute Women Development Promotion Awards

Shimla, March 07: To celebrate the International Women`s Day, state level function will be held at Chambi Ground, Shahpur in Kangra district on this occasion the Women Development Promotion Awards will be given to honour the women and institutions who have contributed significantly towards welfare of women in Himachal Pradesh. The event is scheduled for March 8, with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the chief guest. Dr. (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil, the state’s Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, will preside over the function.

Notably, Anirudh Singh, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, will also grace the occasion, as a special guest, at the event being organised under the combined efforts of the Women and Child Development Department and the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department. The awards will honor and recognize women who have been instrumental in raising the profile of women throughout the state.

Excellence Achievement in Women’s Welfare

The main program of the fancy fest, would be the “Women Development Promotion Awards”. These awards will also be presented to those people and organizations who are dedicated to women’s welfare in Himachal Pradesh. The awards aim to inspire more of these types of actions which enhance the empowerment and image of women through social, health, educational and welfare issues across various sectors.

Self-Help Groups and Welfare Schemes Showcase

The event will also showcase all products made by Self Help Groups formed by the Social Justice and Empowerment and Rural Development Departments. Through the development of skills and small enterprises, these self-help groups have emerged as a way to provide women with economic independence.

The programme will also give valuable information of the welfare schemes being run by the state for women and children. Such initiatives are targeted at providing solutions for the most pressing problems around women’s health, education, safety and financial empowerment.

Celebrations of International Women’s Day 2025 will not only highlight the achievements of women this year but will also be a call for people to take action towards empowering women and equity across Himachal Pradesh.
