Youth Take Charge in Fight Against Drug Abuse, Awareness Through ‘Chitta’ Short Film

Shimla, 5 March: Amidst the increasing menace of drug abuse, the youth of Himachal Pradesh has come forward to create awareness on this issue by releasing a short film titled Chitta. The movie which is focused on the consequence of the drug abuse, was released by the Shiv Pratap Shukla, the Governor of Himachal at the Circuit House, Mandi, on Tuesday evening. The Governor commended the initiative and young people’s role in leading the way to achieve a drug-free society.

Chitta is a film that calls for action against the rampant prevalence of chitta (a common name for heroin) in the area. The short film, which is directed by Deepak Mattoo, tries to showcase the rising scourge of drug abuse and the different issues that come along with it. Using a powerful blend of music and a strong narrative to reach and move audiences, it sends a clear message about the dangers of addiction.

This campaign is a part of the Nasha Mukt Himachal Abhiyan which is a state-wide initiative to fight drug abuse pioneered by Governor Shukla. In order to connect with the General Public & to be act by Youth on fight against this menace, the project has been taken up with the Technical Support of RWE & Financial Assistance from Municipal Corporation Mandi.

Deepak Mattoo has composed the soundtrack for Chitta, while the video has been directed by Shashi Chauhan. Sonali, Monica, and Mukul also give notable performances, breathing life into the characters and making them feel relatable. The initiative is a continuation of an ongoing drug prevention campaign of the Municipal Corporation Mandi.
