Book ‘Rohtang Aar-Paar’ to Give Insight into Rich Himalayan Culture
Shimla, March 4: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu released the book ‘Rohtang Aar-Paar’ by the famous Hindi poet Ajay today, describing it as a valuable gift to the culture of the Himalayan region. The CM appreciated the author for compiling a unique collection of travelogues, diaries, letters, blogs, and conversations that showcase the rich biodiversity, lifestyle and traditions of the people living in the Himalayas.
Addressing the release event, Chief Minister said that the state Government was committed to promote folk talents and encouraging activities that preserve and publicize the cultural wealth of Himachal Pradesh. “I consider this book an important document for the coming generations as it throws light on the cultural diversity of the people inhabiting the high-altitude areas of the state,” said Sukhu.
The author Ajay explained that ‘Rohtang Aar-Paar’ gives an elaborate perspective of the lives of the people living in Lahaul-Spiti and the surrounding regions and how their unique ways of life combine with the beauty of nature in these places. Not only does the book embody the biodiversity of the region, the environmental conditions, but it also mirrors the way of life and traditions that have bound the community for generations.
The launch event was graced by various dignitaries, including Rakesh Kanwar — Secretary to the Chief Minister, Prof. Chandra Mohan Parshira — Head of the Department of Tourism in Himachal Pradesh University and Dr. Rajesh Kumar — President of HelpAge India Himachal Pradesh.
