New Congress Executive Committee in 15 Days; No Centre Support for Disaster Relief: Rajani Patil

Shimla March 02 – After day-long discussions with Congress leaders in Shimla for the last two days, Congress in-charge Rajani Patil said that the committee of Himachal Pradesh Congress will be re-formed and the new executor will be set up in 15 days. The new committee would ensure adequate representation for all communities, Patil said, and the Congress would strictly adhere to the “one person, one post” policy in the interest of the party’s organization.
Patil’s statement is the conclusion of a series of meetings with party leaders to restructure the party’s leadership in the state. The party’s focus was on unity and the new committee was expected to have representation of all segments of the society, she said.
No Bitterness Towards Congress-Government
When asked if the Congress in Himachal Pradesh will have a leadership change in the state, Rajani Patil said the party’s leadership in the hill state was “excellent” and there is no need of change. She alleged that the BJP’s “Mission Lotus” had wholly failed in the state, and that the Congress government was functioning properly and without any infighting. There is no indignation with regard to our government and all the leaders are working together,” Patil said, describing the unity in the party.
On being asked whether the state Congress president was ousted, she said, “There has been no removal of the president. While the executive committee had been dissolved, the president’s position was still intact, and any decision about changes in leadership would come once the new executive committee had been formed, she said. On the question of government appointments, Patil said that not everyone could be given a post, but that worthy leaders had been given due consideration.
Allegations Against BJP and Central Government
Rajani Patil also launched an attack on the previous BJP government and alleged that it has caused the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh to lag behind in economic development. She singled out the central government for failing to provide aid during recent natural disasters. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had several times sought disaster assistance from the Centre but got no help, Patil said.
Alleging that the central government is trying to topple state governments, the Congress leader claimed that the dispensations were trying to misuse agencies like the ED and CBI to weaken opposition parties. “The Congress is consistently opposing the misuse of power in such ways,” Patil claimed, implying that the party would use every platform available to defend state autonomy.
Faith in Congress’s Reassertion of Power in 2027
Seizing 2027, Congress would form a government in Himachal Pradesh, Rajani Patil asserted looking ahead. Breaking the five-year handover tradition, Congress would win, she believed. Patil lauded the existing government for its functioning and added that the entire party stood united in its quest to better the governance of the state. The party is fully united and the government is doing good work in Himachal,” she said.
