CM’s ‘100 Ratnas of My City’ initiative, free coaching to 6,800 students across Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, March 01 – In a landmark initiative to empower students of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today launched a much-awaited program- ‘100 Ratnas of My City’ for the students across the state. About 6,800 meritorious students in the state will get free coaching for competitive exams under this initiative, which will involve a total estimated investment of Rs 34 crore.

The program will be facilitated by Crack Academy, which will offer free coaching to 100 best-performing students of each assembly constituency. It aims to learners ace multiple competitive exams by providing various resources and guidance to maximise their academic potential.

An Open and Inclusive Selection Process

The students will be selected from the examinations conducted at the schools and colleges in each assembly constituency. Students from class six onwards can take part in the competition and demonstrate their skills and get an opportunity for free coaching. Full financial support will be given to the top 100 students from each constituency, while the next 200 students will get 75% reduction and the next 500 will get 50% reduction in fees charged by the coaching institutes.

This inclusive model seeks to provide fair opportunities for those that have not had access to high quality coaching at home, at school and at other social institutions. Crack Academy committed to supporting them throughout their journey and keeping them motivated until they succeed.

State Government Support for Program Success

The Himachal Pradesh government has pledged full cooperation for successful implementation of the programme. Crack Academy in charge of designing and organizing of the test papers, The state’s Education Department will still be in charge of conducting the examination process so that the examination process can run smoothly. As a means of creating more awareness about the program, the Chief Minister also announced a statewide campaign to create awareness about the program among the students and their parents.

The initiative was launched in the Jawalamukhi Assembly Constituency of Kangra District, with students from 50 schools taking part. At present, 220 chosen students in Jawalamukhi are already undergoing merit-based coaching as part of the initiative, and the government intends to expand it to other constituencies in the near future.

Employment Opportunities and Infrastructure Investments

The Chief Minister also highlighted that this would provide employment opportunities in the state, beyond just education benefits. Crack Academy has great plans to set-up over 90 coaching centers, creating direct employment for 5,000 people and indirect job opportunities for the local communities.

The iconic library at Ridge, Shimla will see a fresher take with Crack Academy committing to a figure of Rs. 1.5 crore for the library premises so that its facilities could modernized whilst the heritage of the building retained for better technology inclusion for students.

For a Better Tomorrow: A Vision

Speaking at the launch event, the Chief Minister outlined how the programme would help auction-change the educational landscape in Himachal Pradesh. This initiative helps to reduce the gap between privileged and underprivileged, as it provides free coaching to talented students from poorer backgrounds. This programme is a powerful platform to reach out to students who have the potential but do not have the access to the right resources to prepare for competitive exams that will make merit the only criteria to reach the top.

The event was also attended by the Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Director of Higher Education Amarjeet Sharma, and Director of Elementary Education Ashish Kohli, who all stood behind this transformational initiative.
