Big accident in Chhattisgarh: Big drill machine collides with train
Railways has ordered a senior administrative grade level inquiry into the incident.
Railway officials said that on Sunday, the head of a large drilling machine collided with a moving train on the outskirts of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, injuring two passengers and a sanitation worker.
A railway public relations officer in Raipur said that the incident took place around 10 am when the Shalimar-LTT Express bound for Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) was passing through Urkura railway station ahead of Raipur station.
Railways has ordered a senior administrative grade level inquiry into the incident.
Earlier officials had said that a pillar located near the track fell on the train.
The public relations officer said that it was later found that the metal piece belonged to a drill machine reamer which looked like a pillar.
Public Relations Officer said that as soon as the train reached Raipur station, railway personnel including doctors reached the affected coach and provided first aid to the injured passengers.
Injured passenger Devari Dhivar (30) and sanitation worker (from on-board housekeeping service) Narayan Chandra Bag (30) were then admitted to a private hospital here. He said that the second injured passenger Somil Mandal (12) was given first aid at the station.
